When a fitting such as this has a spigot end, it is meant to connect to the socket end of another fitting. The FIPT end allows the fitting to connect to a piece of threaded iron piping, which is useful in all kinds of instances. This street elbow is made of high-quality schedule 40 PVC, which has a temperature tolerance of 140°F. This means it is not suited for hot water applications.
